Construction Circle is an editorial-style zine and the first in a series of collateral belonging to a larger thesis project by the same name. The thesis and its publication address the topic of fast fashion by placing focus on education and real-life change through community. The purpose of the first edition is to visually and verbally arrange information about the ready-made garment industry in a way that furthers, restores, or ignites interest in the issue.

Stitching ideas together.

This project started with hand-made garments that serve as an infographic depicting statistics involving the ready-made garment industry. In these statistics, there is attention paid specifically to the treatment of workers, industry safety standards, and environmental impacts of consumer culture in the United States.

In 2013, Rana Plaza, a commercial building containing thousands of RMG workers collapsed in Bangladesh injuring 2,500 people and killing more than 1,100.

Out of the forty million garment workers worldwide, over ninety percent are women.

The average U.S. American throws away eighty-one lbs of clothing each year, which contributes to the twenty-six billion lbs of clothing that end up in landfills.

Sixty percent of all clothing is incinerated or in a landfill within one year of being made.
